During our very busy Osheaga week-end, we also had a cover and a short editorial to shoot for Nightlife.ca early on the sunday morning with now worldwide hailed local duo Chromeo. All in all, we roughly had an hour and an half with the boys… Simply put, we needed to be extremely precise and efficient. And fortunately enough, those 2 guys were very helping with their charismatic presence and ease in front of the lens.
So, since we had the opportunity, this time around we photographed Dave One and P-Thug with a twist. As a matter of fact, we went for continuous lighting instead of our regular flashes allowing us, for many reasons not explained here, to better control ambient lighting and to play with colors in the entire image right on the spot (for instance, on the 1st image: orangish in the foreground, blueish on the right handside and cyan in the background).
In a small time-window, we ended up with 4 different and very satisfying set ups at Indy Auto (whose owner Nick is such a sweet character by the way) with a really nice feel and textures now featured in the September issue of Nightlife.ca.

The Walkmen, Japandroids, Hovatron, Marie-Pierre Arthur, We Are Wolves, Ariane Moffatt, The Gaslight Anthem).

Off the Hook new ad campaign (shot by us at SPG) is featuring on 3 Nightlife Magazine full-pages in the July issue and will be showing until next December 2009. It is also seen in Vice Magazine.
Besides, Off the Hook celebrated their new pieces 2 weeks ago with a very nice happening at Balroom on St-Laurent, Montreal, where they released the brillant making-of by Cedric Laurenty showing our hard work and different bits of the 3 shootings that took place last February.
Enjoy!

It was such a relief when i finally saw those 3 ads in the Nightlife magazine yesterday… Bam-bam-bam! 3 separate full-page ads! We worked so hard and for such a long period of time to achieve these images… Lots of discussions, planning, photography and… post-prod work!
Last November, Harry at Off the Hook commissioned our team to capture 3 individual ads with 3 different major players from their boutique: Harry D. himself (founder), Angelo D. (owner) and Kelly (marketing director). The brief was to represent these people obsessed with their very own passion. The final work would be used to promote and celebrate country-wide their 10th anniversary starting this July until December ’09.
All along, we worked in very close collaboration with in-house art director Jérémy Wirth who came up with the initial concepts. His stories were so well detailed and inspiring that we kept the final compositions pretty close to his sketches shown right here:
sketches: Jérémy Wirth
I guess whenever one’s vision is that crystal-clear and elegant, you simply have to follow it!
And to recreate those sets, we teamed up with extraordinaire onset art director Sarah Hall who geared the pictures with all those magnificient and luxurious props.
But more is to come! Each pictures has its own particular making-of story and intend to sum them up in futur posts!
Stay tuned!
