TIERNEY GEARON

Mercredi 25 août 2010

These images are highly personal, keyed to Gearon’s own life, reflecting its apparently equal helpings of chaos and stability. But they also remain strangely anonymous and distant. They speak of particulars but also tap into ubiquitous questions about life. Freezing these moments seemingly through children’s eyes, Gearonpresents us with the children’s complex mixture of innocence and insouciance, which comes from experiences as yet unmediated by grown-up sensibilities. Any questions we have as we look into these images are bounced back at us as the young counterparts concentrate on life lived.

Mark Borthwick

Mercredi 18 août 2010

For my first inspiration post I chose a guy I greatly admire. Mark Borthwick is a photographer, filmmaker, musician, poet and an amazing cook. He worked a lot in the nineties with some of fashion most important and innovatives magazines ; Self Service, Purple, I.D. and Index. Borthwick is recognized for being at the forefront of a movement that broke through the conventions of fashion photography and his influence is strongly being felt today. He explains  he now retired from doing editorial photography to give all those pages to the new generation of photographers. He is  also known for his dinner parties/musicals performances/installation of his drawings, photographs, poems and collages.

Have a look at his website where you can also download for free all his albums. Enjoy.
