Depuis l’an passé, en plus de notre photographie régulière, nous assurons aussi la direction photo sur des plateaux de tournage en vidéo clip, cinéma et télévision.
Voici donc officiellement notre pièce promotionnelle côté cinématographie:
Director: Jean-Luc Della Montagna / DoP: SPG / Prod.: La Guérilla
Here it is! The final piece! « Cold World » from hip-hop duo Dubmatique!
Every frames of the background you see is a still photograph. Even when the guy is seated in the metro wagon or on the stairs… We filmed both guys with the Red camera on green screen back in Montreal while making sure every single angle and all the lighting matched our still shots from NYC. Big up to our dear editor Ulric Robichon who animated our shots in post-prod and sleekly integrated our footage!
More info on these shootings in NYC and Montreal right here and more pictures here!
Here are more pictures I took while shooting in New York City for the new Dubmatique music video.
Tomorrow, make sure you keep up to date with our blog as I will post our final work for their new track « Cold World ».
Early October, I got a call from Director/Producer Jean-Luc Della Montagna to shoot for his new collaboration with Hip-Hop band Dubmatique and their new track « Cold World ». The latters are making a comeback and, simply put, Jean-Luc (JL) wanted me to be both photographer and director of photography for this music video. So we sat at Olimpico and talked about the project.
JL had in mind shooting heaps of moody photographs (backgrounds, people, buildings, landscapes, etc.) in the New York City‘s area and integrating them in post-production work with the singers duo shot on green screen. Simple… Well, not that much but i was obviously up to the challenge he was offering me. Besides, I had never experience shooting for music video… So i was very flattered he put that much trust into my skills!
One very nice thing about this project was to establish, 2 weeks ago, our headquarters in Brooklyn, more precisely in Clinton Hill. Magnificient neighborhood and lovely people! On Wednesday, starting from there we moved around and went on and off the main island for 2 days and 1/2 straight shooting pictures with a very small crew (producer, director, assistant and me). Saturday, we were finally off around 6pm. We got back to our flate and got dressed to party for Halloween nite! Really, Halloween in Brooklyn is beyond what we are used to experience here in Canada…
Last Thursday, back at our studio in Montreal, we carefully shot Disoul and OT on green screen. It was of prime importance to respect every single angles to match precisely our photographs and the artists’ positioning on the screen. Man, I loved doing the lighting and framing for this kind of job.
Post-prod work is happening this week. Mainly, the director and editor are working together to assemble to whole thing. I will quickly drop by probably tomorrow to give my advice regarding the final coloration, mood and texture. I’m looking forward watching this material coming to life!
The music video is due November 19. Disoul and OT sincerely wished this piece will bring them back at the forefront of the hip-hop scene. Hopefully, we did our job well and that it will serve their purpose properly!
PS I have tons of new pictures (above) from these new shootings. I will certainly post more of them shortly.
ciao,
